“Exuberant classical music. Combining classical music and jazz is a dangerous field: the role models are too numerous, the dangers of clich\u00e9s too great. But you only need to listen briefly to this album to realize that the four-piece ensemble Clazzic holds its own in this field. With bass, drums, piano and the particularly sound-determining flute, you experience an exuberant jam session in which classical themes seem to emerge here and there. However, what at first seems to be extended improvisations turns out to be a sophisticated composition written especially for the ensemble after a glance at the booklet. In a five-movement suite, the Russian-Israeli composer Uri Brener presents adaptations of ideas from various classics – taken from Debussy’s “Syrinx”, a trio sonata by Bach, the melody of a medieval troubadour, Stravinsky’s “Firebird” and the variation theme from Mozart’s A major Piano Sonata.
